Auburn Parks and Recreation Independence Day Weekend facilities hours
All Auburn Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed Monday, July 4 in honor of Independence Day with exceptions of the Samford Pool and Yarbrough Tennis Center. The pool and tennis center will have modified hours over the holiday weekend.
Yarbrough Tennis Center Holiday Hours
Saturday, July 2 open 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sunday, July 3 open 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Monday, July 4 will be open 8 a.m. – noon.
Samford Pool Holiday Hours
July, 2 Saturday: Lap Swim 6-9 a.m. , Rec Swim 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
July, 3 Sunday: Lap Swim 10 a.m. – Noon Rec Swim 12:15 – 5 p.m.
July, 4 Monday: Lap Swim 10 a.m. – Noon, Rec Swim 12:30 – 5 p.m.
All Auburn Parks and Recreation parks, playgrounds and cemeteries will be open sun up to sundown.
Town Creek Park Inclusive Playground Now Open
The City of Auburn Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the Town Creek Park Inclusive Playground is officially open as of Wed., June 1. The playground is located at 430 Camellia Drive and is open sunup to sundown. A grand opening will be scheduled at a later date. Please be aware crews will be working on areas of the inclusive playground to finishing work causing some areas of the playground to be closed for short periods of time.
The playground consists of 5 large playground pods. There are over 30 play structures in the playground. There is also fitness equipment, a Gaga Ball Pit, a zip line and a rock-climbing wall. The playground has something for every age, ability level and interest.
The playground has two pavilions and a restroom building. The pavilions are available for reservations. There are multiple shades set up throughout the playground, with plenty of benches throughout the park. Please be mindful when playground equipment sits in the sun for an extended period the equipment can become very hot.

City Market will be every Saturday this summer at Town Creek Park
City Market will be held every Saturday from 8-11 AM at Town Creek Park and continue until August 27th. This summer we will host a variety of farmers, musicians, artisans, and non- profits throughout the summer. This years City Market is sponsored by Kathy Powell State Farm.
Parking will be available for all market attendees in the gravel parking lot across from Town Creek Park. All market visitors must maintain a minimum of 6 feet between one another.

Independence Day Celebration Monday, July 4
The City of Auburn Parks and Recreation will host an Independence Day Celebration Mon., July 4 behind Duck Samford Stadium. Enjoy music, free inflatables, food vendors and fireworks. Gates open at 5 p.m. The Dion Hawkins and the Experience band will be performing live with a special performance by C.J. Harris, American Idol’s 13 season sixed place finalist. Aubie will make an appearance and free 4th of July giveaways will be given out at the gate.
The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. Admission is FREE to the public. Duck Samford Stadium is located at 1840 East Glenn Avenue.
3rd Annual Sidewalk Chalk Challenge now open for entries
This summer, the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC) once again challenges the Auburn community to see who can create a masterpiece out of sidewalk chalk with the 3rd Annual JDCAC Sidewalk Chalk Challenge.
This year’s chalk creations must again be inspired by a famous artist or architecture. The submission must also include three facts about the artist or architecture selected or three reasons how the artist or architecture inspired the completed chalk work.
No entry fee is required and registration is encouraged.
The JDCAC will be partnering with the Auburn Arts Association (AAA) on this challenge. All chalk creations must be submitted no later than Thursday, August 4th. Judging will take place Friday, August 5th with winners announced Friday, August 5th at 5 pm on the AAA’s Facebook page. Prizes will be awarded. Guidelines and information as well as an application to participate is available on the AAA’s website, www.auburnarts.org and JDCAC’s website, www.auburnalabama.org/arts.
Frank Brown Recreation Center Membership Card Required to play racquetball and free basketball
Auburn Parks and Recreation now requires membership cards for free play basketball and racquetball.
Free play basketball and racquetball at Frank Brown Recreation Center are open free of charge to citizens who live, work or attend school within the city limits of Auburn, AL and to non-citizens for a one-time $25.00 fee. A membership must be acquired for free play basketball and racquetball regardless of age. Replacement cards will cost $25.00 regardless of residency. The membership card is non-transferable and can only be used by the card holder. You must be at least 13 years of age to participate in free play basketball and 15 years of age to participate in racquetball. Children ages 13-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian at the time of application.

Auburn Stride Walkers 2022
The Auburn Stride Walkers returns in 2022. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the walkers will meet at Frank Brown Recreation Center from 9 - 10 a.m. If the weather is nice the walk will take place outside. If the weather is not great walkers will walk inside. All ages are welcome for more information contact Kathy Ondy firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dinius Park now open
The public is invited to visit Auburn Parks and Recreation's newest amenity, Dinius Park, beginning Friday, Oct. 15. The new 13-acre passive park — located at 1435 E. Glenn Ave. — includes walking trails, small and large dog parks, a nature playground and a small pond.
The park also includes a restroom building, and a pavilion will be added at a later date. Additional work will take place over the next few weeks, but the park will remain open from sunrise until sunset.
The City of Auburn would like to extend our thanks to the Dinius family who donated the land and funding for the park. The passive park to be enjoyed by the citizens of Auburn will be a culmination of the dreams they had for the land.
Auburn Parks and Recreation launches new Rec. VIP Volunteer Program
Auburn Parks and Recreation invites you to become a Rec. VIP Volunteer! Rec. VIP is a volunteer program for individuals age 19+ who are interested in helping with programs and events offered through Auburn Parks and Recreation.
The Rec. VIP program strives to improve the quality of life for all citizens by involving volunteers who offer their time, effort and skills to enhance the City of Auburn. The program incorporates volunteers into all facets of the organization including athletics, Special Olympics, therapeutics, 50+ programs, special events, cultural arts, and park cleanup.
Rec. VIP Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt each year, a quarterly newsletter with upcoming volunteer opportunities, as well as recognition and appreciation events.
